The following sights are worth visiting to get a comprehensive view of our area. They will definitely impress you.
The waterfalls of Varvara are hidden in the dense forest that belongs to village Varvara, but the fastest aproacch is via Olympiada.
Leave your car in the parking lot and take the 10-15min walking route to discover the two waterfalls. The place is ideal for families with young children, who are sure to be thrilled.
Both the location and the sense of calm, serenity and the contact with the natural element makes you feel like you have discovered a piece of heaven.
Since 2003, a theme park near Stagira, called “Grove of Aristotle”, demonstrates many experimental physics instruments, that operate based of physics laws. Those laws are refered at Aristotle’s writings and especially in “Physics”.
It is worth visiting the Park for its interesting instruments, your children will love it. But alsoyou will enjoy the great view to the gulf of Ierissos.
Finally, you will also find there a cafe-restaurant with a panoramic view, where you can enjoy some quietly moments.
The monastic state of Mount Athos is located in the third and eastern peninsula of Halkidiki. It is a self-governing part of the Greek Orthodox Church and the monuments of the Byzantine period enjoy a worldwide reputation.
Only men are permitted to enter Mount Athos. The rule, known as the “AVATON”, forbids access to Mount Athos by any female and is enforced by law.
If you can’t be on Mount Athos than its a gread idea to take the 3-hour cruise, where you will see the south-western part of the peninsula of Athos and almost half of the 20 monasteries that exist today.
Ammouliani is a small island located approximately 60km away from Vrasna Beach. You can access the island via the port of Tripiti. A ferry boat will take you there in about 15 minutes.
While you are on the island you must visit the most famous and beautiful beach of the island: Alykes. The fine sand and the crystal clear blue waters will definetely charm you.
On the organized beach there are beach bars. Enjoy your drink, your coffee or your snack watching the endless blue of the Aegean.
The second largest natural lake in Greece, just 20km away from Vrasna Beach. Lake Volvi took its name from a Nymph named Volvi, the daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, who lived in the waters of the lake, which she protected.
Lake Volvi has a rich fish fauna with 24 species of fish. There are also 245 species of birds in the area including many migratory ones.
The wind that blows from the straits of Rentina creates the right wave in Lake Volvi for the aspiring wind surfers who gather there from all over Greece.
This unique beach, is near to Nea Peramos, in Kavala, about 80km away from Vrasna Beach. It’s one of the most beautiful beaches of northern Greece, as it combines the crystal clear waters of the sea and the sandy gold sand.
On the beach you will find many beach bars which offer sun beds, umbrellas and parking all for free.
You can enjoy your drink, your coffee or your snack watching the endless blue of the Aegean Sea.
Only 25Km away from Vrasna Beach is the archaeological site of ancient Amphipolis (a city founded in 437 bc) and the Archaeological Museum.
In the museum you will find findings from the prehistoric and the Archaic period to the Early Christian and the modern period.
A few kilometers away you will be able to admire the Lion of Amphipolis. With a height that exceeds eight meters with its pedestal, it is an attraction worth visiting
Ancient Stagira is the birthplace of Aristotle, the greatest philosopher of ancient times. The city was founded in 655 B.C. by colonists from the island of Andros.
Next to Ancient Stagira is the village Olympiada where you can enjoy your coffee or dinner right next to the sea.
It is a great idea to bring along your swim suit and towel. There are a few beaches to explore and reward yourselve with a cool dip in the clear and refreshing Aegean Sea.
